In August of 2006, a few friends were discussing how they wished there was more convention activity for gaming, anime, and comics & collectibles in northeast Florida.
We live in an area that is a few hours north and south of some of the biggest and best conventions in the southeast. So, why not bridge the gap? We wanted to bring together the many gaming, genre & hobby enthusiasts from our local community as well as out of town travelers to our beautiful city of St. Augustine, the oldest city in the nation (hence the name).
We agreed that our mission was to create a diversified event for the enjoyment of fans of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Gaming in all forms (i.e. RPGs, CCGs, CMGs, Board Games, Miniatures, Historical, LAN, Console), Anime, Manga, Comics, Collectibles, Cosplay & Costuming.
Thus, Ancient City Con was born! We came together to merge the various worlds of adventure and imagination. We wanted to create an event where attendees are free to explore and participate in multiple aspects of various hobbies as they wander the convention. Our hope is that through convention participants’ support Ancient City Con will grow each year to become one of the best annual conventions in the southeast!
Ancient City con is a “fan driven” convention. This means we endeavor to fill our program schedule with the games, panels, contests, & events that YOU request! Please feel free to discuss ideas or suggestions in our Forums of anything you would like to do, run, or just see at the convention.
Our first convention in 2007 was a success due to the hard work and donations of our Volunteers, Staff, Artists & Vendors, and of course you the attendees!
In 2008, Ancient City Con is moving to Jacksonville, FL in order to expand our size and scope and bring you a convention that is bigger and better than ever!
