Now that we have been doing this for a couple of years, we have come across some of the same questions and conversations. When talking to Anime/Manga/Otaku fans they think Ancient City Con is a “gaming” convention, and when we talk to gamers they think we are an “Anime” con. So, this is an explanation of all the things that Ancient City Con encompasses.

The truth is our scope is much broader than just anime or games. We try to include ALL things related to science fiction or fantasy. This can include, but certainly is not limited to: science fiction, fantasy, horror, gaming (tabletop miniatures, role playing including live action role playing LARPs, board, card, video with PC and console gaming), anime, books, TV shows, movies, comics, collectibles, cosplay and costume design, miniatures painting and much more.

Basically, if somebody comes to us with an idea for something they want to do at the convention and it’s related to any of the genres or hobbies mentioned above, we do our best to roll with it and make space and time available for fans of that hobby or interest group at Ancient City Con.

In addition to the contests, events, games and discussion panels, Ancient City Con has Dealers and an Artist Alley. These folks are an important part of the convention and are integrated into the convention as a whole instead of being tucked away in a separated room and thus easily bypassed or ignored. Many of our past dealers and artists have remarked that they have enjoyed being able to take a more active role in the convention because of this.

While our initial focus was more on “action” vs. “awe” Ancient City Con has also hosted Guests. The guests in the past conventions have been authors, publishers, game designers and professional bloggers. As the convention continues to grow, we will endeavor to expand the range to include media personalities and actors.

Our vision was to create a convention that “has a little bit everything” where attendees can meet up with others who are just as passionate about their interests as they are, and for them to easily try new things that are related without additional expense. We feel we have been successful in that regard and are working hard to bring you even bigger and better things to come.

As always, we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding content at Ancient City Con. Feel free to post on our Forums or send us an email at ancient_con@yahoo.com.

Cya at the convention!

Regards,

Christopher Gabaldon
